Instaprost ist eine kleine Social-App zum Teilen von Bierbildern. Diese Seite erklärt in einfachen Worten, welche Daten die App speichert, wo sie liegen und warum. Verantwortlich ist der Betreiber von Instaprost, erreichbar unter hallo@instaprost.de.

Was wir speichern

  • Konto — E-Mail-Adresse, Benutzername, Anzeigename, optional Bio und Profilbild, ein gesalzener Hash deines Passworts (nie das Passwort selbst) und ob dein Konto privat ist.
  • Bilder und Beiträge — die hochgeladenen Bilder, Bildunterschrift, Hashtags und Erwähnungen sowie der Zeitpunkt. Jeder Beitrag erscheint außerdem 24 Stunden als Story. Die Bilder liegen in einem Speicher-Bucket von Google Cloud in Belgien, bis du den Beitrag oder dein Konto löschst.
  • Markierungen — wen du auf einem Bild markierst. Die markierte Person wird benachrichtigt, sieht dieses eine Bild auch dann, wenn dein Konto privat ist und sie dir nicht folgt, und kann ihre Markierung jederzeit selbst entfernen. Blockiert ihr euch, werden eure Markierungen gegenseitig gelöscht.
  • Bilderkennung — zu jedem Bild speichern wir, was die Bildprüfung erkannt hat: erkannter Text (z. B. das Etikett), Logos, Schlagwörter und Web-Treffer. Das wird niemandem angezeigt; wir nutzen es, um Biere und Brauereien später erkennen und vorschlagen zu können.
  • Soziales — wem du folgst, wer dir folgt, Folgeanfragen, blockierte Konten, Likes, Kommentare, gespeicherte und geteilte Beiträge.
  • Nachrichten — Direktnachrichten, die du sendest und empfängst, auch in Gruppen. Sie werden gespeichert, damit beide Seiten sie lesen können, und sind nicht Ende-zu-Ende-verschlüsselt.
  • Meldungen — meldest du einen Beitrag oder ein Konto, speichern wir die Meldung und den Grund.
  • Anmeldung — Anmelde-Tokens sind maximal 30 Tage gültig.
  • Push-Benachrichtigungen — für jede App-Installation, die Benachrichtigungen erlaubt, speichern wir einen Expo-Push-Token, die Installations-ID, die Plattform (iOS/Android), die App-Version und die Sitzung, zu der sie gehört. Der Token identifiziert eine Geräte-Installation, keine Person; meldest du dich ab, deaktivieren wir die Benachrichtigungen für dieses Gerät. Noch nicht zugestellte Benachrichtigungen liegen kurz in einer Warteschlange (Outbox) und verfallen nach 24 Stunden.
  • Technische Daten — Server-Protokolle mit IP-Adresse, Zeitpunkt und aufgerufener Adresse liegen 30 Tage in Google Cloud Logging, zur Fehlersuche und gegen Missbrauch. Es gibt keine Analyse- oder Werbe-SDKs in der App.

Bildprüfung und Bier-Jury

Jedes hochgeladene Bild wird automatisch geprüft, ob es Bier zeigt oder Menschen, die anstoßen. Dafür senden wir das Bild an die Google Cloud Vision API (Google Cloud EMEA Ltd.), die Schlagwörter, Objekte, Text, Logos, Web-Treffer und eine Jugendschutz-Einstufung zurückgibt. Google verarbeitet das Bild als Auftragsverarbeiter nach den Google-Cloud-Datenverarbeitungsbedingungen und nutzt es laut Googles Angaben nicht zum Trainieren eigener Modelle.

Fällt das Bild durch, geht es an die Bier-Jury: drei zufällig gewählte andere Instaprost-Nutzer sehen das Bild und die Bildunterschrift bis zu 48 Stunden lang und stimmen ab. Das gilt auch bei privaten Konten. Bis zur Entscheidung ist der Beitrag für niemanden sonst sichtbar; wird er abgelehnt, bleibt er nur für dich sichtbar und du kannst ihn löschen.

Push-Benachrichtigungen

Benachrichtigungen sind opt-in: die App fragt dich über die Systemabfrage deines Betriebssystems um Erlaubnis, bevor sie welche schickt. Erlaubst du das, senden wir den Inhalt der Benachrichtigung über Expo (Expo, Inc., USA), das ihn an Apple (APNs) beziehungsweise Google (FCM) weiterleitet, die ihn an dein Telefon zustellen. Der Benachrichtigungstext verlässt dabei unsere Server — deshalb sind Nachrichten-Vorschauen standardmäßig ausgeschaltet, und eine Benachrichtigung enthält nie ein Bild oder eine private Bildunterschrift, sondern höchstens einen allgemeinen Hinweis wie „Neue Nachricht“.

Fast alle Benachrichtigungen reagieren darauf, dass jemand anderes etwas getan hat. Eine nicht: am Freitag- und Samstagabend erinnert dich die App daran, dein Bier zu posten. Sie wird nicht von einer anderen Person ausgelöst, sondern von einem festen Termin, geht nur an einen zufällig gewählten Teil der Leute und nur dann, wenn du an dem Abend noch nichts gepostet hast. Sie hat eine eigene Einstellung und lässt sich wie jede andere abschalten.

Du kannst jede Art von Benachrichtigung einzeln in der App abschalten, einzelne Unterhaltungen stummschalten (eine @-Erwähnung von dir kommt trotzdem durch, solange Erwähnungen eingeschaltet sind), und widerrufst du die Benachrichtigungs-Erlaubnis deines Betriebssystems, stellen wir dir gar nichts mehr zu. Der Push-Token bleibt gespeichert, bis du dich abmeldest, die App deinstallierst oder der Anbieter ihn als ungültig meldet; noch nicht zugestellte Benachrichtigungen in unserer Warteschlange verfallen spätestens nach 24 Stunden.

Wo die Daten liegen

  • Server, Bilder und diese Website: Google Cloud, Region europe-west1 (Belgien).
  • Datenbank: Neon (Neon Inc.) auf AWS in Frankfurt. Neon selbst hält einen Wiederherstellungsverlauf von 6 Stunden.
  • Sicherungskopien der Datenbank: Jede Nacht speichern wir eine vollständige Kopie der Datenbank in einem nicht öffentlichen Speicher-Bucket von Google Cloud in Belgien. Sie enthält alles, was in der Datenbank steht, also auch Konten, Nachrichten und Passwort-Hashes, aber keine Bilder. Die meisten Kopien löschen wir nach 8 Tagen, die vom Sonntag nach 5 Wochen, die vom Monatsersten nach rund 13 Monaten. Die Kopie vom 1. Januar bewahren wir ohne festes Enddatum auf. Wir nutzen die Kopien nur, um die Datenbank nach einem Datenverlust wiederherzustellen.
  • App-Updates und Push-Benachrichtigungen: Beim Start fragt die App bei Expo (Expo, Inc., USA) nach Updates und übermittelt dabei Plattform und App-Version, keine Kontodaten. Erlaubst du Benachrichtigungen, leitet Expo deren Inhalt außerdem an Apple (APNs) oder Google (FCM) weiter, siehe oben.
  • E-Mail an @instaprost.de wird von Forward Email (Forward Email LLC, USA) an unser Postfach weitergeleitet.

Einladung zur iPhone-Testversion

Wenn du auf instaprost.de eine TestFlight-Einladung anforderst, senden wir deine E-Mail-Adresse und den optional angegebenen Namen an Apple (App Store Connect), damit Apple dir die Einladung schickt. Wir speichern E-Mail, Name und den Status der Einladung; auf Wunsch löschen wir den Eintrag. Für TestFlight selbst gelten Apples Bedingungen.

Was wir nicht tun

  • Wir verkaufen keine Daten.
  • Wir zeigen keine Werbung und nutzen keine Tracker.
  • Wir fragen um Kamera- oder Fotomediathek-Zugriff nur, wenn du in der App ein Bild aufnimmst oder auswählst, und um die Benachrichtigungs-Erlaubnis nur, bevor wir dir Push-Benachrichtigungen schicken.
  • Wir erfassen keinen Standort.

Wer was sieht

Öffentliche Konten: Beiträge, Profil, Follower und Gefolgte sehen alle angemeldeten Nutzer. Private Konten: nur bestätigte Follower sehen Beiträge und Stories — Ausnahme ist die Bier-Jury oben. Direktnachrichten sehen nur die Beteiligten. Benutzername, Anzeigename und Profilbild sind für alle angemeldeten Nutzer sichtbar.

Löschen und deine Rechte

Beiträge und Kommentare löschst du in der App. Einzelne Nachrichten lassen sich derzeit nicht zurücknehmen; sie verschwinden, wenn du dein Konto löschst. Einstellungen → Konto löschen entfernt dein Konto samt Beiträgen, Bildern, Bilderkennungsdaten, Follows, Likes, Kommentaren und den von dir gesendeten Nachrichten sofort aus der App und der Datenbank — auch dort, wo andere sie zitiert haben. In den Sicherungskopien der Datenbank bleiben gelöschte Daten enthalten, bis die jeweilige Kopie abläuft (siehe „Wo die Daten liegen“): meist höchstens 5 Wochen, in den Kopien vom Monatsersten rund 13 Monate und in der vom 1. Januar ohne festes Enddatum. Server-Protokolle verschwinden nach 30 Tagen. Du hast das Recht auf Auskunft, Berichtigung, Löschung, Datenübertragung und Widerspruch sowie auf Beschwerde bei einer Datenschutz-Aufsichtsbehörde. Schreib dafür an hallo@instaprost.de.

Rechtsgrundlagen

Konto, Beiträge und Nachrichten verarbeiten wir zur Erfüllung des Nutzungsvertrags (Art. 6 Abs. 1 b DSGVO), Bildprüfung, Jury und Protokolle aus berechtigtem Interesse an einer bierbezogenen, sicheren App (Art. 6 Abs. 1 f DSGVO), die TestFlight-Einladung auf Grundlage deiner Anfrage (Art. 6 Abs. 1 a und b DSGVO).

Alter

Instaprost dreht sich um Bier. Du musst in deinem Land volljährig für Alkohol sein, mindestens aber 17 Jahre (Altersfreigabe im App Store).

Instaprost privacy policy

Instaprost is a small social app for sharing beer pictures. This page explains, in plain words, what data the app stores, where it lives and why. The controller is the operator of Instaprost, reachable at hallo@instaprost.de.

What we store

  • Account — your email address, username, display name, optional bio and avatar, a salted hash of your password (never the password itself) and whether your account is private.
  • Pictures and posts — the pictures you upload, their caption, hashtags and mentions, and when they were posted. Every post also appears as a 24-hour story. Pictures are stored in a Google Cloud storage bucket in Belgium until you delete the post or your account.
  • Tags — who you tag in a picture. The tagged person is notified, can see that one picture even when your account is private and they do not follow you, and can remove their tag at any time. If either of you blocks the other, the tags between you are deleted.
  • Image recognition data — for each picture we keep what the image check recognised: text (for example the label), logos, keywords and web matches. Nobody sees this; we use it to recognise and suggest beers and breweries later.
  • Social graph — who you follow, who follows you, follow requests, blocked accounts, likes, comments, saved and reposted posts.
  • Messages — direct messages you send and receive, including group conversations. They are stored so both sides can read them and are not end-to-end encrypted.
  • Reports — if you report a post or account we store the report and the reason.
  • Sign-in — sign-in tokens are valid for at most 30 days.
  • Push notifications — for every app installation that allows notifications we store an Expo push token, the installation id, the platform (iOS/Android), the app version and the session it belongs to. The token identifies a device installation, not a person; logging out disables notifications for that device. Notifications waiting to be delivered sit briefly in a queue (outbox) and expire after 24 hours.
  • Technical data — server logs with IP address, time and requested address are kept for 30 days in Google Cloud Logging for debugging and abuse prevention. The app contains no analytics or advertising SDKs.

Image check and beer jury

Every uploaded picture is checked automatically for beer or people toasting. For this we send the picture to the Google Cloud Vision API (Google Cloud EMEA Ltd.), which returns labels, objects, text, logos, web matches and a safe-search rating. Google processes the picture as our processor under the Google Cloud data processing terms and, per Google's statement, does not use it to train its models.

If the check fails, the picture goes to the beer jury: three randomly chosen other Instaprost users see the picture and caption for up to 48 hours and vote. This applies to private accounts too. Until the verdict nobody else sees the post; if it is rejected, only you can see it and you can delete it.

Push notifications

Notifications are opt-in: the app asks through your operating system's own prompt before it sends any. If you allow it, we send the notification's content through Expo (Expo, Inc., USA), which forwards it to Apple (APNs) or Google (FCM), who deliver it to your phone. The notification text leaves our servers in the process — which is why message previews are off by default, and why a notification never contains a picture or a private caption, at most a generic hint like "New message".

Almost every notification reacts to something another person did. One does not: on Friday and Saturday evening the app reminds you to post your beer. It is triggered by a fixed schedule rather than by anybody, goes to a randomly chosen share of people, and only if you have not already posted that evening. It has its own setting and can be switched off like any other.

You can turn off each type of notification separately in the app, mute individual conversations (an @-mention of you still gets through while mentions are switched on), and if you withdraw your operating system's notification permission we stop delivering anything at all. The push token stays stored until you log out, uninstall the app, or the provider reports it invalid; notifications still waiting in our queue expire after 24 hours at the latest.

Where the data lives

  • Servers, pictures and this website: Google Cloud, region europe-west1 (Belgium).
  • Database: Neon (Neon Inc.) on AWS in Frankfurt. Neon itself keeps a restore history of 6 hours.
  • Database backups: every night we store a full copy of the database in a non-public Google Cloud storage bucket in Belgium. It contains everything in the database, including accounts, messages and password hashes, but no pictures. We delete most copies after 8 days, Sunday's after 5 weeks, and the one from the 1st of each month after about 13 months. The copy from 1 January is kept with no fixed end date. We use the copies only to restore the database after a data loss.
  • App updates and push notifications: on launch the app asks Expo (Expo, Inc., USA) for updates, sending platform and app version, no account data. If you allow notifications, Expo also forwards their content to Apple (APNs) or Google (FCM), see above.
  • E-mail to @instaprost.de is forwarded to our mailbox by Forward Email (Forward Email LLC, USA).

iPhone test invitation

When you request a TestFlight invitation on instaprost.de, we send your email address and the name you optionally entered to Apple (App Store Connect) so Apple can send you the invitation. We store the email, name and invitation status and delete the entry on request. TestFlight itself is governed by Apple's terms.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell data.
  • We show no ads and use no trackers.
  • We ask for camera or photo library access only when you take or pick a picture in the app, and for notification permission only before we send you push notifications.
  • We do not collect your location.

Who can see what

Public accounts: posts, profile, followers and following are visible to any signed-in user. Private accounts: only approved followers see posts and stories, with the beer jury above as the one exception. Direct messages are visible only to the participants. Username, display name and avatar are visible to all signed-in users.

Deletion and your rights

You delete posts and comments in the app. Individual messages cannot be taken back yet; they go when you delete your account. Settings → Delete account removes your account with its posts, pictures, recognition data, follows, likes, comments and the messages you sent from the app and the database immediately — including where other people have quoted them. Deleted data stays in the database backups until each copy expires (see "Where the data lives"): usually 5 weeks at most, about 13 months in the copies from the 1st of a month, and with no fixed end date in the one from 1 January. Server logs go after 30 days. You have the right to access, rectify, erase and export your data, to object, and to complain to a data protection authority. Write to hallo@instaprost.de.

Legal bases

Account, posts and messages are processed to provide the service (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR); the image check, jury and logs on the basis of our legitimate interest in a beer-only, safe app (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); the TestFlight invitation on the basis of your request (Art. 6(1)(a) and (b) GDPR).

Age

Instaprost is about beer. You must be of legal drinking age in your country, and at least 17 (App Store age rating).
